The well hit an oil bearing reservoir section in the 
Upper Magnus sands of about 550 feet, which was was larger than pre-drill estimates, 
Valiant said.

A drillstem test of the well is now being carried out, with results expected in the next two weeks.

Valiant chief executive Peter Buchanan said: “Oil has been discovered in the second Tybalt well in a column which exceeded our pre-drill estimates.
