Special security police in the Democratic Republic of Congo arrested and later released two officials from the Inspectorate General of Finance currently conducting investigations into unaudited state spending and the requisition of a large sum of money due to oil companies.

Inspector General Victor Batubenga was one of those taken into custody. Batubenga is investigating the requisition by President Felix Tshisekedi’s chief of staff Vital Kamerhe of $15 million allegedly due for payment to unspecified oil companies.
