Two men, named as Michael Paul Cradduck, 22, and Steven Ray Cavenee, 30, headed to a Quantum Energy drilling area about two miles (3.2 kilometres) east of Calumet last week, after allegedly taking jewellery and other items from a barn across the road.
They approached the pump but it apparently slammed down, critically injuring Cradduck and damaging Cavenee’s leg.
The men told police they were at the wellsite working for the company when the accident happened.
