About 400 million barrels of additional oil in place was discovered while ONGC carried out development drilling activities on D1.
“This discovery, notified to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, has an additional oil-bearing zone of about 142 metres,” the company said.
On completion of development activities, oil production from D1 is expected to increase to 60,000 barrels per day.
The first development well in the D1-14 block was spudded in May and was initially planned to be drilled to a depth of 2648 metres.
