Netherlands-based operator ONE-Dyas has spud its Darach-Central-1 exploration well on the northern fringes of the UK southern gas basin

According to industry sources, the jack-up Ensco 121 began drilling operations earlier this week after arriving on location the previous week.

The Block 42/04-1 well has a main Lower Carboniferous target. Drilling is expected to last 72 days.

The well is covered by licence P2133, which straddles blocks 36/30a, 42/3a, 42/4 and 42/5a and was awarded in the 27th Round.
