An investigation is under way after one person died and more than a dozen were injured following an explosion and fire on a Saipem-operated vessel that was set to work on the BP-led Shah Deniz 2 development in Azerbaijan’s portion of the Caspian Sea last week.
A total of 14 Saipem employees sustained burns following the incident on the pipelaying barge Israfil Huseynov at around 6:30pm local time on 8 May.
