ONGC is understood to have approached the market in search of one rig capable of drilling in water depths of 10,000 feet, and another in 6000 feet.
The challenge for the Indian operator is that it wants the rigs in a hurry, preferably starting in 2008, and only two drillers have deep-water equipment available for such an early start Ocean Rig and Seadrill.
