The Malaysian co-owners of the Ophir shallow-water oilfield are hoping to soon restart field production by installing nitrogen equipment.

The field was shut in on 8 January 2018 after only three months of production.

Nitrogen, because of its low density and high pressure characteristics, will be used to displace well fluids in order to initiate output, said co-venturer Octanex.

The field has been developed under a risk service contract operated by Ophir Production, whose co-owners are Octanex on 50%, Scomi Energy on 30% and Vestigo Petroleum on 20%.
