FOUR bidders are locked in battle over an engineering, procurement and construction contract for an unmanned wellhead facility on Statoil’s Oseberg Vestflanken 2 project off Norway.

Statoil, the Norwegian national oil company, is currently reviewing bids from homegrown contractor Kvaerner, Spanish yard group Dragados, Saipem of Italy and Dutch rival Heerema to design and construct the steel platform.

The new platform will be used to recover oil and gas from new deposits in the Oseberg area and improve the recovery rate from other producing deposits at the North Sea field.
