The Usman-1 wildcat at Mirpur Khas tested at flow rates of 48 million cubic feet per day of gas with a calorific value of 945 British thermal units per cubic feet, according to a local report.

Exploiting this discovery in Mirpur Khas would enable Pakistan to knock off $70 million from its annual oil import bill, Orient estimated.

The partners are in the market for a liquid petroleum gas plant to be installed at Naimat Baisal, which they hope will be commissioned before winter 2004.
