Ghalebani, who replaces Seifollah Jashnsaz, is described as a close associate of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and has no background in oil and gas.
Jashnsaz, has become head of Naftiran Intertrade Company (Nico), the powerful financing arm of NIOC.
The new head of NIOC comes from a background in car manufacturing and state-run heavy industries.
He headed the country’s second biggest car manufacturer Saipa for some years and was head of the Industrial Development & Renovation Organisation (IDRO).IDRO
