Oxy will lead a consortium of the United Arab Emirates' Liwa Energy, Oman Oil Company, Anglo-Dutch Shell, France's Total and Portugal's Partex to implement the project aimed at raising the field's output to 150,000 barrels per day from 10,000 bpd at present.

"Occidental will utilise thermal EOR techniques, to develop 1 billion barrels of Mukhaizna crude and achieve a production of 150,000 bpd by 2011," said the Ministry of Oil&Gas.
