A MAJOR international asset swap between Shell and US operator Occidental will lead to the Anglo-Dutch giant investing billions of dollars in Malaysia and the Philippines over the next five years. In one fell swoop, Shell has increased its stake in the Malampaya gas field development to 100% by acquiring Oxy's upstream subsidiary in the Philippines, which holds 50% in offshore Service Contract 38 containing the Malampaya and Camago gas fields.
