Oxy-Fuel Combustion in Once-Through Steam Generators (OTSG) proposes using pure oxygen instead of solvents for steam generation to capture CO2, resulting in near zero emissions with a 99% capture rate.
“We know on paper what we can do with this but we need to demonstrate the oxy-fuel with burners and CO2 purification. The integration of the system shows that it could work in a reliable and safe manner, and that is where this project is focusing,” said Suncor climate change engineering specialist Mark Bohm.
