Mexican regulators have cleared Pan American Energy to drill the Xaxamani-2EXP well on a shallow-water tract won during the country’s Round 3.1, writes Kathrine Schmidt.

The company, known locally as Hokchi Energy, is targeting Lower Pliocene structures in two different intervals: between 751 and 784 metres below the drill floor, and also between 810 and 840 metres.

The vertical well is to be drilled to a planned total depth of 910 metres, in 19 metres of water.
