Mexican regulators have given their approval for a local unit of Pan American Energy (PAE) to drill the shallow-water Akan-1EXP wildcat off Mexico, writes Kathrine Schmidt.
The probe by PAE is located in Block 2 that was awarded in Mexico’s very first Round 1.1 bid offering in 2015.
The tract was originally claimed by a consortium operated by Talos Energy, but PAE took it over in a recent acreage swap.
