Industry sources said the Saipem/Dalian and Technip/ Hyundai consortia are the sole remaining bidders after an Amec/Samsung grouping declined to participate any further.
One well-placed executive said Total asked all three consortia to extend the validity of their bids by another month to the end of August to cater for ongoing project delays but the Anglo-Korean venture was unable to agree to the request, claiming it was unable to keep its yard slots open any longer.
