He told Upstream that Devon has shortlisted the pair as the final contenders for blocks 42/05, 53/30 and 64/18, an industry official said.
Devon’s decision was made after receiving bids from up to 10 upstream majors including Norway’s Statoil, ConocoPhillips and BP. “Chevron is being singled out as it bid high,’ said the official.
He added that CNOOC, which signed the production sharing contract with Devon for exploring the three blocks, could exercise pre-emption rights for any bids on the blocks.
