The Philippines province of Palawan has lost its protracted claim for a hefty share of the central government’s earnings from Shell’s giant producing Malampaya gas field.
The nation’s Supreme Court in a unanimous 12-0 decision ruled against the province, effectively ending its legal battle that had lasted more than a decade.
The Palawan government had sought 40% of the Manila administration’s earnings from the Malampaya-Camago field development, which lies in Service Contract 38 off the island province.
