Norwegian operator Equinor is understood to have received the backing of its partners Petoro, OMV, ExxonMobil, Wintershall Dea and Vaar Energi for the Nkr5 billion ($616 million) Hywind Tampen floating windmill development.
The Hywind Tampen project aims to cut emissions from the North Sea Snorre and Gullfaks fields by 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year via the installation of 11 of Equinor’s proprietary Hywind floating windmills near the fields to replace some of their gas-fired power supply.
