Joint venture partners Todd Energy and Beach Energy are working on a cluster-style offshore development concept that could suit a shallow-water gas discovery in New Zealand's Taranaki basin, writes Russell Searancke.

The two companies are 50:50 partners in Block PEP 57080, which they refer to as the Nimitz permit.

The permit contains the shallow-water exploration prospects Kokako and Korimako, which each have the potential to contain 500 billion cubic feet of gas.
