Two separate pay disputes could result in industrial action on Norwegian offshore installations in the coming weeks, with shutdowns at producing fields looming as early as next week.

The Lederne union may put 198 of its members on strike from 4 June unless talks with the Norwegian Oil & Gas Association led by a state-appointed mediator succeed before then.

The action would most probably shut down the Neptune Energy-operated Gjoa field and the Okea-operated Draugen field, and would also affect a further five North Sea and Norwegian Sea fields.
