The aim of the scheme is to extend the life of the field, maintaining a production rate of 60,000 to 70,000 barrels per day, said an Omani oil industry official.
Marmul is one of Oman's biggest fields and accounts for almost 10% of PDO's crude oil production.
The official said that PDO expects to "go to the market" with an engineering, procurement and construction tender next year.
