Mexican state oil company Pemex is currently focusing much of its efforts on shallow-water and onshore development work but remains hopeful that deep-water projects will play a larger role in the longer term, writes Mark Hillier.

“In the near future, Mexican production will be more focused, as we have been, on the shallow water and the onshore, but maybe in the next five or six years then the deep waters will start to provide a more important part of the production volume,” said chief executive Carlos Trevino.
