Pemex has been granted approval by Mexican regulators to carry out a $6.6 billion revamp of the Ek-Balam field, which is forecast to see production peak at nearly 100,000 barrels by 2022.
The project calls for an extensive programme of pipeline replacement as well as new development and injector wells at the field in the Bay of Campeche, according to comments from a meeting of the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH).
