Mexican state oil company Pemex has confirmed a discovery in the deep-water Perdido fold-belt region as it reported a narrower quarterly loss.
Mexican regulators first disclosed a successful result at the probe, Kokitl-1EXP, last week.
"Hydrocarbons discovered were gas and condensate," Pemex added this week.
"Kokitl’s reserves are currently under documentation process."
The well had targeted Upper Palaeocene Wilcox objectives in a water depth of 1936 metres.
