Pemex is understood to have submitted a formal request to Mexican regulators to farm down its stake at the key deep-water gas complex of Kunah-Piklis.
This means the first phase of the state oil company’s push to take on its first round of joint venture partners is nearly complete.
The request for the final deep-water area — the Trion and Exploratus fields in the Perdido fold-belt — is also expected shortly, a government source said.
