Aggressive but anonymous bidding stole the show at a blockbuster lease sale in the US state of New Mexico focused on the powerhouse Permian basin, setting a record for government proceeds for a sale of its kind that clocked in at just under $1 billion.
The two-day sale set a record with revenues of $972.4 million, the US Bureau of Land Management said, surpassing the proceeds from all sales in 2017 combined.
