Pertamina farms-in to Murphy’s Semai II block

The acquisition of a 15% stake in Semai II off West Papua gives Pertamina a foothold in this frontier block that was awarded in November 2008.

The initial three-year exploration term carries a commitment work programme including shooting 3D seismic on the 3379-metre block and the drilling of three exploration wells.

Murphy approached the market last year for a semi-submersible or drillship for Semai II, with the stipulation that the unit would have to operate in a minimum water depth of 2200 metres.
