Indonesia’s state-owned Pertamina has taken over operatorship of the Offshore Mahakam block, one of the country's largest producing assets, although talks are continuing with the previous co-venturers regarding their possible future participation.

Pertamina became operator and 100% equity holder of Offshore Mahakam on 1 January after French operator Total and Japanese equal partner Inpex’s production sharing contract expired on the previous day.
