The two permits are in the northern Perth basin off Western Australia and, for bidding purposes, are referred to as release areas W13-19 and W13-20. They sit in water depths of up to 2500 metres.
Of the 31 permits that the government has offered in 2013, these two blocks are the only ones recommended for inclusion by the government agency Geoscience Australia.
