Brazilian major Petrobras has spudded an appraisal well on Sagitario, a pre-salt discovery in Brazil’s Santos basin, where Shell and Repsol are partners.

The well, denominated 3-BRSA-1370-SPS was spudded with the Ocyan-owned ODN-1 drillship in a water depth of 1841 metres on Block S-M-623, which forms art of the wider BM-S-50 concession.

A discovery of light oil at Sagitario was announced in 2014 as a result of a well drilled to 7110 metres, with a reported hydrocarbon column of more than 150 metres.
