One source told Upstream that Petrobras is scouting the market in search of an available unit — known in Brazil as floating shipyards and by the acronym UMS — for a contracting period of one year.
The move comes as a surprise, as Petrobras has already launched a tender to charter one or more semi-submersible UMSs on a longer-term basis, as the company continues to seek equipment to carry out its ambitious programme aimed at increasing the operational efficiency in the Campos basin.
