The once marginal Cendor discovery has led to upstream investments set to deliver a total of around 30,000 barrels of oil per day by the end of this year.

The latest appraisal well, which was drilled to a sub-surface depth of more than 1000 metres, confirmed both oil and gas-bearing reservoirs.

Cendor was discovered in 2001 by Hess but the US company then decided — with initially estimated recoverable reserves of 12 million barrels of oil — that it was sub-commercial.
