Petrofac, which bought the production rig Ocean Legend from Oceaneering last September, has renamed the facility FPF5 and upgraded it.
Petrofac said the field development plan for West Desaru in Block PM304 was approved by the Malaysian authorities last month.
First oil is planned in the fourth quarter of 2012, with the FPF5 used as an early production system that will ultimately be replaced by a new floating production, storage and offloading vessel which will be located on the Cendor field, also in Block PM304.
