Malaysian national oil company Petronas has launched the process of securing major contractors for the K5 sour gas project in shallow water off Sarawak.
The operator intends to invest in two surface production facilities for the project — a large mobile offshore production unit (Mopu), and a small floating storage and offloading vessel to handle associated liquids.
Expressions of interest for the facilities have been issued to certain contractors, most of whom are Malaysian, said sources.
