Mexican oil regulators have given the green light to Petronas to drill a potentially play-opening wildcat in the deep waters of the Salina del Istmo basin, writes Kathrine Schmidt.
The Malaysian operator had not initially committed to a well on Block 4 that it won during Mexico’s inaugural deep-water Round 1.4 bid offering in 2016, but evidently opted to step up its work programme after its initial evaluation work.
