Petronas president and chief executive officer Mohamed Hassan Marican said the pact will provide long-term security of gas supply to the Peninsular Gas Utilisation project. The agreement will also consolidate the development of gas fields offshore peninsular Malaysia as well as optimise operations through an integrated development approach between EPMI and Carigali. The deal, which will take effect in January 1998, calls for EPMI to give Petronas all but two undeveloped gas fields awarded under a natural gas project and sales agreement signed in 1990.
