At the heart of the disagreement is the newbuild seismic vessel NB 534, which is being built in Spain by PGS subisidary Arrow Seismic.
This week, CGGVeritas filed a writ in a Norwegian court claiming it had an agreement with Arrow before it was taken over last November by PGS to charter and buy the NB 534.
PGS denies any agreement was ever entered into, while CGG-Veritas claims that discussions were broken off at a stage that constituted a binding agreement.
