The Philippines last month launched its first licensing round, which comprises 46 blocks in waters off Palawan and in the Sulu Sea.

The 46 Service Contracts (SCs) range in size from 2000 to 8000 square kilometres and cover a total of 222,914 square kilometres in shallow to ultra-deep waters located near to existing producing assets and in frontier basins.

Almost 50 companies, including international and local oil outfits, as well as service and seismic contractors, attended the 5 August launch of the first petroleum Public Contracting Round (PCR-1) in Manila.
