The Philippines is keen to kick-start its upstream oil and gas industry and the Department of Energy (DoE) cannot help but be buoyed by the recent positive signs from the nation’s nascent liquefied natural gas sector.

But there will need to be a concerted and co-ordinated effort by many government agencies to achieve this goal.

DoE officials are upbeat individuals who have an apparent, almost unwavering faith in the Philippines as a destination for continuing upstream investment with the resultant renaissance of exploration activity.
