The Philippines has been offered an offshore exploration block off The Gambia as a thank you for giving the West African country a variety of peanut about 40 years ago, which has turned into the country's main export crop.
Gambian Foreign Minister Musa Bala-Gaye confirmed that Gambia offered the block for free during a recent visit to Manila by Gambian President Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh and that Manila would not have to compete with any other parties.
