Pakistan’s Engro Elengy Terminal is gearing up to commission the country’s first liquefied natural gas terminal near Karachi by next month, which could significantly reduce gas shortages in the country.
The first LNG cargo for the floating import facility is likely to be delivered by Qatargas later this month, and gas supplies are likely to begin soon.
“The floating storage and re-gasification unit would be ready to pick up LNG cargo for sellers by early March and (they) would reach Karachi within two to three days,” said Engro Energy’s chief executive Sheikh Imran Ul Haque.
