Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina has admitted that a crude spill off East Kalimantan that was followed by a fatal fire emanated from a rupture on one of its subsea pipelines, writes Amanda Battersby.
However, the company is denying negligence played a part in the incident that claimed at least five lives. The pipeline, which was installed in 1998, had been inspected just four months ago.
