The 300-kilometre proposed North Central Corridor line, estimated to cost $983 million, would be the first west-east natural gas pipeline to be built in the region.
It would stretch from TransCanada's existing Meikle compressor station, about 100 kilometres north-west of Peace River, to the pipeline company's Woodenhouse compressor station in the heart of the Athabasca oil sands.
At full capacity, the line would carry up to 800 million cubic feet per day in a 42-inch diameter pipe, built over two stages, said Trans-Canada.
"The
