The contract to build the $450 million pipelay vessel, referred to in-house as DLV 2000, could be awarded soon as terms are being finalised with the potential constructor, according to a McDermott spokesman.
He told Upstream that the specifications for the pipelayer are being refined, and an announcement on the project was expected within months.
The dynamically positioned combination vessel will be equipped with a 2000-tonne crane for structural work, 450 tonnes of S-lay tension with a rigid stinger and a 200-tonne crane with active heat compensation for performing subsea work in water depths of up to 10,000 feet.
