Player still confident over output forecast despite pinch in funding

Seifollah Jashnsaz, the man responsible for running Iran's main oilfields in the south over the past year, shows total outward confidence that the country will increase its crude output enough over the next decade or so and ward off a crisis, writes Vahe Petrossian.

He complains about not having access to more funds, lack of spares and says he feels the effects of the latest US sanctions.

However, he remains confident that managers at the National Iranian South Oil Fields Company (Nisoc) are gaining ground on the ageing fields in their charge.

"Last year, we replaced the 280,000 barrels per day lost to depletion, and added another 22,000 bpd to our capacity," he says.
