Players have only scratched the surface for PNG's gas riches

Papua New Guinea is a hive of activity as gas resource owners push to develop their discoveries, while the major players believe they have only scratched the surface in terms of PNG’s gas prospectivity, writes Russell Searancke.

Now that ExxonMobil has completed its acquisition of InterOil, the development of the large Elk-Antelope gas complex looks a formality. The big question is whether the gas will underpin expansion trains at the PNG LNG facility or a greenfield site.
