Leading engineering players are in talks with yards in China as they prepare to compete for a major turnkey contract covering a cylindrical floating production vessel for Shell’s Penguins project in the UK North Sea.
Industry sources said the Anglo-Dutch supermajor has chosen a Sevan 400 design unit as its favoured development solution for Penguins and “is adamant” it wants the floating production, storage and offloading vessel to be built in China.
