Global subsea equipment and installation providers are locked in contests for the two major contracts linked to the Greater Enfield oil project off Western Australia.
The two contracts are the subsea production system package and the subsea umbilicals risers and flowline (SURF) package, with each understood to have a value worth several hundred million dollars.
Competing for the subsea system are US rivals FMC Technologies and OneSubsea, while the surf package is the focus of a duel between heavyweights McDermott of the US, Anglo-Norwegian Subsea 7 and Technip of France.
